TOO DARK TO GARDEN - 28 October 2012

Ah – back home after a weekend away and despite a quick inspection of the garden, it’s far too dark to be out there and I don’t think I’d get a great shot of all the growth in the dark.
So it’s a pic of my basil which I planted out two weeks ago and have been growing on the window sill in my home-made propagators.  The really interesting thing is that I planted out basil directly in the garden a week earlier than this basil…and which is growing bigger and faster?  Yup – it’s the ‘window sill basil’ which is clearly the leader!
This basil is destined for the tomato bed once they’re ready to plant out (given that they make great companion plants!)  I sowed the other basil directly into my herb garden.  It’s a pretty easy herb to grown and fairly low maintenance…I just can’t get enough of home-grown basil in summer!  And it always reminds me of trips to Italy when I bite into basil and tomato dishes…oh the taste!
