The tomatoes are coming along really nicely and are a fantastic shade of green! I’m going to have to put some more ties on them this weekend and pick out some more laterals I think.
Just one cherry tomato doesn’t seem to be doing as well as all the rest: it still has a cloche on it. I’m not sure what the problem is there, but growth has been much slower on that one plant.
I’m amazed that other bloggers have fruit appearing on their tomatoes already. Mine seem to be on track this year according to the gardening diary I have kept from the past two years. I guess seeing as I grow them from seed, they’re a lot slower…I prefer to grow them from seed as it is substaintially cheaper!
The pea straw is really helping keep the moisture in the soil, although the blackbirds seem to ben haing out at the very end and pulling bits out in their hunt for worms.
Fingers crossed for a fantastic weekend weather-wise….it wasn’t looking so great according to the news, but I am ever hopeful as I am desperate to get out and spend some quality time gardening this weekend! I have lots of maintenance and a spot of planting to do!
