Today’s blog entry comes to you today from Auckland! It is incredibly sunny and warm up here and I am extremely jealous of those of you who live up here! It is far less windy that Wellington and much warmer!
I lived in Auckland for quite few years as a kid and I wasn’t very observant when it came to gardening, but I can tell now as an adult, that the climate is far more suited to tropical varieties of plants etc.
Before I left Wellington last night, I took a quick snap of one of my courgettes. They would just love it here! I have mine growing in a polytunnel primarily to help keep them protected from the winds whilst they establish themselves, but also because it is much warmer in there! I grew this from seed and I planted it out in the garden about a week and a half ago from memory.
Courgettes are one of my most favourite vegetables, but I only eat them in season from my garden as I refuse to pay the crazy prices in the supermarket just to eat them all year round.
Well, that’s it from me here in Auckland today! Really wish I could be doing some gardening today myself, but I’m off to enjoy this glorious day that Auckland has put on for us. (Hope it’s like this at home in Welly today).
