EGGSHELLS WORK A TREAT! – 17 September 2012
The rain has stopped, so time to do some more
slug patrolling and I was plesantly surprised to find that my little broccoli seedlings have fared
rather well thanks to some eggshells! Pictured is a seedling grown from seed: Yates Broccoli – Summer Harvest.
When I use eggs, I rinse them out
and pop them into the microwave and leave them there for a bit – using the
microwave as normal. This helps to harden the shells up a bit and then I store
them in a snaplock bag until I need them in the garden. It’s a great way to
keep pests at bay and adds some calcium into the soil too!
